Fall Street Sweeping to start Sunday, October 1, 2023

Residential street sweeping will begin in Zone 1 starting Sunday, October 1, 2023.

The sweeper will be out in two shifts from 11 p.m. - 7 a.m. and 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

It is very difficult to predict how quickly areas will be swept as conditions vary and equipment breakdowns sometimes occur. If possible, please do not park on the street until you see that your area has been swept. This will help assist us in efficient cleaning. As autumn approaches, decorate your front yards in a fall theme as we say farewell to summer. 

Enter your home address and a photo of your decorations at www.yorkton.ca/fallintoautumn to be included on the City of Yorkton's Fall into Autumn Community Tour Map. 

The tour map will be available to the public the week of September 25 and will be updated regularly.

The City of Yorkton will have a number of adjusted hours of operation on Monday, September 4, 2023. 

City Hall 

• Closed on Monday, September 4 and will reopen Tuesday, September 5, at 8 a.m. 

Public Works 

• Closed on Monday, September 4 and will reopen Tuesday, September 5, at 7 a.m.

York Road Reconstruction Phase 2 and 3 Road Closures and Detours

Phases 2 and 3 of the York Road Reconstruction project is now underway. Phase 1 is complete, and the roadway will be open from Highway 9 to Seventh Avenue North.

Road closures along York Road are extended to First Avenue North, with a detour in place on Imperial Street for local traffic and vehicles accessing businesses along York Road.

Phases 2 and 3 are expected to take approximately three months to complete, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Yorkton Public Library continues operations at present location

During the August 14 Council Meeting – In Camera session, members of Council discussed a status update pertaining to the relocation of the Yorkton Public Library.

The sale of the Library was approved at the June 5, 2023 Council Meeting, but as with all sales, conditions are put in place and have to be met prior to finalizing the purchase agreement.
