2024 Maintenance to the Water Tower

You may have noticed our city's tallest sign has gotten a bit easier to read recently. That's right, the Water Tower is currently getting a makeover! We're doing some much-needed paint touch-ups, equipment repairs and replacements, and even upgrading the flight beacon.

But don’t worry, your water service will continue as usual without interruption.

Here’s a fun fact: Our Water Tower stands at a whopping 48 meters tall! That’s roughly the same height as Niagara Falls! Now that’s some towering...

The City of Yorkton will have a number of adjusted hours of operation on Saskatchewan Day, Monday, August 5, 2024. 

City Hall 

  • Closed on Monday, August 5, 2024 and will reopen Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 8 a.m. 

Public Works 

  • Closed on Monday, August 5, 2024 and will reopen Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 7 a.m.

2024 Asphalt Crack Sealing Program

The 2024 asphalt pavement crack sealing program is now underway. Crack sealing will be complete over the next four weeks, pending weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances.

As of July 24, 2024 these streets are going to receive crack sealing:

  • Darlington Street
  • Downtowns Avenues
  • Portions of Smith Street
  • Portions of Betts Avenue
  • Portions of 4th Avenue North
  • Mayhew Avenue
  • York Road East
  • Gladstone Avenue North (if there’s time left)
  • Other streets may be added to this list if time permits

News Release - City Monitoring for Dutch Elm Disease

A comprehensive Dutch elm disease (DED) survey was recently completed on Yorkton’s urban forest. On July 7 and 8, 2024, Living Tree Environmental Ltd. conducted a full visual inspection of American elm trees within the boundaries of the city to identify and mark for removal all DED symptomatic trees, and to detect any elm wood storage/pruning violations.
