PST Applied to Recreation Admissions and Passes

Effective October 1, 2022, and as per provincial regulations, Provincial Sales Tax (PST) applies to the total charge for taxable admissions, entertainment, and certain recreation items in Saskatchewan.

PST will be collected on admission fees, participation fees, activity fees, and punch passes as they relate to the Access Communications Water Park, indoor walking tracks, racquetball/squash memberships, and drop in sports, and other similar items.

Non-beverage glass jars now accepted at SARCAN in Yorkton

Starting today, September 6, you can now recycle your non-beverage glass containers at our Yorkton SARCAN Depot, which is operated by SaskAbilities. This includes containers like:

  • Food jars (pickles, condiments, jams/jellies, sauces, peanut butter, salsa, vegetables)
  • Food bottles (vinegar, oils)
  • Baby juice bottles
  • Canning jars (used for home canning)
  • Glass storage containers

Containers should be as clean as possible before being dropped off at SARCAN. Lids must be removed and can be recycled...

Speed limit changes for school and play zones take effect today

Starting today, (September 1) all park and elementary school zones will be reduced to 30 km/hr and be in effect from 8 a.m. till 10 p.m., 7 days a week. The high school zones will remain at 40 km/hr and will be in effect 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., 7 days a week.

Community Safety Officers and RCMP will be monitoring the speed zones and educating drivers about the new speed limits as needed.

An additional 12 new radar signs have also been installed throughout our school zones.

Residents will be noticing updates and additions to signs within the school and play zones throughout the city, in preparation for changes that take effect next month.  

Starting September 1, all parks and elementary school zones will be reduced to 30 km/hr and be in effect from 8 a.m. till 10 p.m., 7 days a week. The high school zones will remain at 40 km/hr and will be in effect 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., 7 days a week.

Adjusted Services and Holiday Hours for Saskatchewan Day, August 1

The City of Yorkton will have a number of adjusted hours of operation on Saskatchewan Day, Monday, August 1.

City Hall

  • Closed on Monday, August 1 and will reopen Tuesday, August 2, at 8 a.m.

Public Works

  • Closed on Monday, August 1 and will reopen Tuesday, August 2, at 8 a.m.
