Civic Recognition Awards Winners 2023

The 2023 City of Yorkton Civic Recognition Awards were presented at a reception prior to the regular meeting of Council Monday, January 29, 2024.
The winners are
- Avery Bond - Youth Category
- Kristin Weber - Adult Category
- BGC – Yorkton - Group Category.

At a Special Meeting of Council on Thursday, February 1, 2024, Council voted to relieve
the City Manager, Lonnie Kaal of her duties. Mayor Mitch Hippsley states “I am very
grateful for all Ms. Kaal’s guidance, vision and commitment to the City of Yorkton both
in the Finance Department and as City Manager for the 30 years she has served
collectively. I sincerely wish her a healthy and successful future in all she endeavors to

Proposed 2024 Operating and Capital Budgets Available for Public Review

The City of Yorkton has released its proposed 2024 budget, which includes an increase in total taxation revenue of $983,745 (or 3.5%).
The proposed budget includes the City’s plan to continue to invest in city assets and infrastructure improvements, while continuing to provide the same levels of services as the prior year. Key items affecting all departments include costs increases related to inflation, the carbon tax, and rising construction costs.
The breakdown of the proposed increase is:
Snow Route Parking Ban Blue Routes (Downtown Core),Starting Jan 25 at 11 P.M.

A Snow Route Parking Ban has been declared starting January 25, 2024, at 11 P.M. for the Blue Route (Downtown Core).
The Blue Route area, which encompasses the downtown area, is in force for 72 hours from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. This means that during the day parking is permitted in the downtown area to allow businesses to continue to operate on a normal basis.
Remember: Fines may be issued if vehicles are not moved during a Snow Route Parking Ban.
