2024 RCMP Bike Safety Rodeo kicks off today, Monday, May 13 at Columbia School

The Yorkton RCMP is pleased to host their annual Grade three Bike Safety Rodeo again this year from May 13-17, 2024. Rodeos will take place at each of the eight elementary schools in Yorkton which will total 253 students.

The kick-off event takes place today, Monday, May 13 with Columbia School at the Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church. 

Each class will have a bike safety presentation with an RCMP member and on the day of the Rodeo and bike safety an obstacle course will be set up for the kids to practice their skills. Each participant will receive a brand new bike helmet, at no cost to them, that will be fitted for them at the rodeo. The program is an initiative of the local RCMP Detachment and is sponsored by SGI and the Yorkton Kinsmen Club of Yorkton; that provided grants and donations to purchase helmets and prizes. Other community organizations who help make this event possible are: Hometown Source for Sports; Canadian Tire; Yorkton Fire Protective Services; Yorkton Bowl Arena and many more. 

Participating elementary schools include St. Mary’s, Columbia, St. Michael’s, M.C. Knoll, St. Paul’s, St. Alphonsus, Yorkdale, and Dr. Brass.
