News Release - New City Manager - May 23, 2024

A special announcement from Mayor Mitch Hippsley:

On behalf of Council, I am pleased to announce that we have selected Brad Hvidston as our new City Manager, effective June 24, 2024.

Brad brings to Yorkton an extensive wealth of municipal experience - starting his career as the Administrator jointly for the Village of Dodsland & R.M of Winslow #319, he next became the Administrator for the Town of Spiritwood. Brad then moved to the Town of Tisdale, where he has been the Chief Administrative Officer for the last 16 years.

As is the nature of municipal work in smaller centers, Brad has worn many different hats in his career and carries profound respect for the all of the different roles that we play as civil servants. Mr. Hvidston is a team player and never afraid to get his hands dirty. Brad is community-driven and has helped to orchestrate many initiatives and improvements that have benefitted the residents of his area he has served. Perhaps most significant was the multi-municipal partnership that facilitated expansion of the Tisdale hospital, known as the Northeast HealthPlex, which now houses a range of healthcare practitioners, including doctors, dentists, and chiropractors.

Brad has also served on various boards and professional associations such as: the Urban Municipal Administrator’s Association of Saskatchewan, Municipal Employees Pension Plan, Operators Certification Board and Urban Board of Examiners.

Brad brings a collaborative and supportive leadership style and a solution-orientated approach.  He believes in building a positive culture within the whole organization and to instill pride in our work. Brad is very approachable and a great communicator. We are very proud to recognize Brad as a true “grass roots” person and a great fit for our community.

He is a visionary and excited to help our city grow and thrive.

Brad is no stranger to Yorkton, as two of his three sons have played hockey for the Yorkton AAA Maulers.

Council is very confident in the future of our great city under his direction.

Please help us Welcome Mr. Brad Hvidston to the City of Yorkton.
