Statement from Council on the sale of the Public Library building
Statement from Mayor Hippsley and Council on the sale of the Public Library building.
"Good Day everyone!
The Library “move” has become quite the debate and issue of the current day and there is a lot of misinformation out there.
On behalf of council, I wish to make it publicly “crystal clear” that council has been considering selling the Yorkton Public Library “BUILDING” for almost two years after we saw a vacancy opportunity at the Gallagher Center. Although we had a couple of interested parties, no one else has given a formal offer to purchase until now. We had posted Public Notice for three weeks for feedback for comments regarding the amount of the sale being 1.5M. We received only seven written notices before the closing date.
“PLEASE understand and respect the “buyer” is innocent and at NO fault whatsoever.”
This issue is solely on City Council’s directives.
Thank You"
Mayor Mitch Hippsley
