Year-round Speed limit changes for School and Play Zones take effect September 1, 2022

Residents will be noticing updates and additions to signs within the school and play zones throughout the city, in preparation for changes that take effect next month.  

Starting September 1, all parks and elementary school zones will be reduced to 30 km/hr and be in effect from 8 a.m. till 10 p.m., 7 days a week. The high school zones will remain at 40 km/hr and will be in effect 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., 7 days a week.

During the phase-in period our Bylaw Officers and RCMP will be monitoring the areas, and provide warnings to motorists going above the speed limit.

An additional 12 new radar signs have also been installed throughout our school zones.
